So, like, President Trump was chatting it up with the media before jetting off from the White House on April 25, headed for Rome to pay his respects at Pope Francis’ funeral. The scene was all captured on camera by Kevin Dietsch/Getty Images.
In a recent survey by NPR/PBS News/Marist, a whopping 45% of folks felt that Trump’s performance in his first 100 days in office deserved a solid F grade. On the flip side, only 23% thought he was A material. Seems like everyone’s got an opinion, ya know?
Interestingly, even half of independents were like, “Nah, bro, F for you, Trump.” And even among Republicans, only a slim majority thought he deserved an A. Tough crowd.
The survey, which chatted with 1,439 adults from April 21-23, showed a downward trend in Trump’s popularity since his second term began. People weren’t feeling his moves on the economy, tariffs, or even immigration, which was kinda his thing before.
Overall, Trump’s approval rating is down to 42%, with independents particularly unimpressed at just 36%. To put things in perspective, this is the second-worst approval rating for a president at the 100-day mark in the last 80 years. Ouch.
When it comes to the economy, things are lookin’ even worse for Trump. Only 39% approve of his economic handling, which is his lowest score ever. And peeps seem to think grocery prices are gonna skyrocket, tariffs are bad news, and Trump is to blame for the current economic mess.
The survey also found that a majority disapproved of almost everything Trump was doing, from tariffs to foreign policy to immigration. Even the handling of Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s deportation didn’t sit well with nearly half of respondents.
More than half of the peeps surveyed thought Trump was steering the country down the wrong path, and nearly half felt his policies were negatively impacting them.
Seems like peeps have lost some confidence in the economy too. Remember when everyone was hyped about bringing prices down and the good ol’ pre-COVID economy? Well, now 64% believe grocery prices are gonna climb. And 57% think those tariffs on imports are gonna mess things up.
Seems like Trump’s base is still rockin’ with him though, with two-thirds of Republicans thinking those tariffs are gonna be a win. Some folks are even changing their buying habits because of ’em.
The survey also showed that many peeps think Trump is moving too fast and should really start listening to those court orders. An overwhelming 85% of respondents thought he should follow those orders, even if he’s not feelin’ ’em.
Oh, and about Elon Musk? Seems like peeps aren’t as into him as they used to be. His unfavorable rating is up to 54%, and only 34% have a favorable opinion of him. DOGE, the informal Department of Government Efficiency he’s leading, is also not as popular as it once was.
With Musk’s advisory position expiring soon and Tesla’s profits taking a hit, it looks like his time in the Trump administration might be coming to an end.
So yeah, that’s the scoop on Trump’s first 100 days in office. Seems like he’s got some work to do if he wants to win over the people. But hey, who am I to judge?
